Ice House Park
Ice House Park is a privately funded project by Mr. & Mrs. Robert Moss and Dr. & Mrs. Robert Moyers. The purpose of this project is to protect the view of Conneaut Lake from the East entrance into town. The two couples have purchased the property, secured an architect, and have raized the former dinor and marina structures that resided on that property. Conneaut Lake has received a state grant worth close to $400,00.00 for the Ice House project that will be built at the south end of the lake. It is in an effort to make the entrance to Conneaut Lake even more spectacular.
| The Conneaut Lake Ice Company was formed in 1880. It was located along the shores of Conneaut Lake. The building was located just east of Silver Shores. The main purpose of the company was to provide ice for shipment by rail to the Pittsburgh market. Ice was lifted by conveyer to storage. One storage house held 75,000 tons of ice. The lake provided 100,000 tons of ice annually. |

Scenic Byways Loop Route
Scenic Byways Loop Route is an additional project of the Conneaut Lake Community Development Committee in conjunction with the Crawford County Convention and Visitor's Bureau. The thrust of this program is to designate route 618, Route 18 (from 618 to 322), and the connecting portion of route 6 to form a loop around Conneaut Lake. Once designated as a Scenic Byway, this "Loop Route" would provide more visability of the businesses and activities along this route by widespread advertising.
The thrust of these activities is to make Conneaut Lake a better place to live, work, vacation, and recreate. The businesses surounding the Lake depend on tourism. All of the activities of the Conneaut Lake Comminity Development Committee are centered on attracting new and continued tourists and customers into our area. This is the first part of the equasion that could result in an improved ecomnomic status for the area. |
